Service Area: Wausau
Residential and commercial inspections, radon testing and more for buyers, sellers and owners in Wausau and Marathon County.

Wausau is the largest city in Marathon County and in our Central Wisconsin service area, about an hour north of our home base in Wisconsin Rapids. Its housing ranges from lumber-era homes near downtown and the Wisconsin River to post-war neighborhoods and newer construction.
Eric Bjorkquist is an InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector and a CCPIA Certified Commercial Property Inspector. We strictly follow the InterNACHI Standards of Practice, walk the home with you and your agent, and deliver a comprehensive, easy-to-read report with detailed photos and clear explanations.
Wausau grew up as a lumber town on the Wisconsin River, and the neighborhoods around downtown still have many houses from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Expect updates layered over original construction: older wiring, mixed plumbing, stone or block foundations and additions from several eras.
Ranches, split-levels and two-story homes from the decades after World War II make up much of the city, with newer construction on the edges. At this age the roof, furnace, water heater, windows and electrical panel may be original or on their second round.

Northern Winters
Heat escaping into the attic melts snow on the roof, and it refreezes at the eaves. We look at attic insulation and ventilation, and at the staining and damage ice dams leave behind.
Freeze-thaw cycles move soil, steps, walks and driveways. We check foundations, basement walls and grading for cracks, movement and water getting in during the spring thaw.
A furnace or boiler carries a Wausau home through a long heating season. We evaluate the heating system, venting and visible ductwork, and note equipment that is near the end of its life.
Eric is an InterNACHI certified thermography inspector. An infrared camera helps find missing insulation, air leaks and hidden moisture that are invisible to the naked eye.
